Since the age of seven, swimming has always been an integral part of my life and has been so important in shaping who I am as a person. Throughout my swimming career I have had the opportunity to be a part of several teams of diverse athletes that worked unbelievably hard and would have done anything for one another to reach a common goal. The pool has been a place where I have learned not only how to be better competitor in the sport, but a better leader and a better friend. The skills and qualities I have developed throughout my participation in competitive swimming have definitely made a positive impact on my life, and are ones that I will continue to carry forward into my academic and professional life as well. The sport of swimming has taught me so much more about teamwork, sacrifice, perseverance, passion, and selflessness than I ever thought possible—and for that I’m extremely grateful.
